After almost a month since the first beta of 11.2, Apple has released the macOS Big Sur 11.2 beta 2 for developers as well as the public.

First you need Java installed, I installed 64-bit JDK8, but it would be better to install 64-bit JDK7, since SQL Developer 4.0 is not supported on JDK8. When I’m writing this, SQL Developer 4.1 is in Early Adopter release and 4.0 is in production. I installed SQL Developer 4.0.3. Oracle Instant Client. Updated December 1, 2020 – after some reports from folks having issues on Big Sur, I added some additional details around troubleshooting. I have ran into a few issues getting SQL Developer version X.Y.Z on my Mac Mini, and I’ve seen a few questions online today now that Big Sur is available. 14 hours ago  Developers can download the ‌‌‌macOS Big Sur‌‌‌ 11.2 beta using the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences after installing the proper profile from the Apple Developer Center.

Update 1:06 pm PT: macOS 11.2 beta 2 is now also available for those running the public beta. Check for the update in System Preferences > Software Update.

It’s not clear yet what changes macOS 11.2 beta 2 will include but we’ll be diving in shortly to discover just that. On Apple’s Developer Center, it hasn’t shared any new release notes for the second 11.2 beta:

There are no new release notes for this beta software update.

Previously, macOS 11.1 was released to the public with support for AirPods Max, the long-awaited App Store privacy labels, and Apple News widgets. macOS 11.1 was the first major update of Big Sur since Apple released macOS 11 to all users in November.

macOS Big Sur 11.2 beta 2 is now available to developers and can be downloaded through the Software Update menu in the macOS System Preferences app for those enrolled in the beta program.
